Episode 50 - WWF: Bloopers, Bleeps and Bodyslams

On this episode of HDTGB comedian, Mimi Benfield returns to discuss a much shorter show. Bloopers, Bleeps and Bodyslams is Coliseum Home Video 001 and boy are we surprised they made more of them. Luckily Mimi was here for this one so she could share her thoughts about Adrian Adonis haunting Rowdy Roddy Piper. Jake also recalls a story he heard from Tony Atlas himself and no its not about feet. Because of this video Zane now has a new code word for a drunk and unruly customer at his bar which now will be referred to as a, Captain Lou Albano. Dicks, Butts and domestic assault is the comedy gold mine that Vince Killer McMahon was aiming for in this Coliseum Home Video classic.

Episode 49 - Billy Jack Haynes - The Conspiracy Theory

CAUTION: This episode contains very sensitive subjects that are discussed very poorly.

On this episode of HDTGB podcaster, Ryan Howard joins Zane & Jake to discuss An Interview with a Psychopath otherwise known as Billy Jack Haynes - The Conspiracy Theory.  BOMBSHELL TONIGHT!!!  We had to bring a wrestling fan on for this one in hopes that the guest wouldn’t be too lost and that failed miserably.  Billy Jack is out of his mind but he maybe on to something when it comes to the Chris Benoit tragedy. To best explain this podcast you have to see the movie, Manhunter. Basically, Jake is Will Graham, Chris Benoit is the Francis Dollarhyde and Billy Jack Haynes is Hannibal Lecter. This analogy maybe more confusing than Jake’s whole theory. Either way do yourself a favor and watch Michael Mann’s Manhunter. This podcast you can take or leave unless you want to hear a never before discussed theory about the last days of Chris Benoit.

Episode 48 - FWE No Limits 2013

On this episode of HDTGB comedians Ramon Perez & Kaleigh Cutright join Zane & Jake to discuss a wholesome family wrestling show filled with “Holy Shit” chants entitled, Family Wrestling Entertainment No Limits 2013.  This podcast is filled with voice masking filters, physical act outs and plugs for Tom Segura’s new Netflix special, Disgraceful. All the things you would expect from a podcast release. Unfortunately all the Brooklyn hipsters that came out to this show will not be listening to this episode because it’s not produced by WNYC studios. Which is fine with us because they may get triggered by the shots that are fired by Kaleigh Cutright at Maria Kanellis. You have been warned. Also seriously please make sure you watch Tom Segura’s new Netflix special, Disgraceful.

Episode 47 - Birth Of The Great Muta

On this episode of HDTGB comedian Matthew McCorkle joins Zane & Jake to discuss a Tape Trader Must Have in, The Birth of the Great Muta. Poor Matt, had never seen professional wrestling before in his entire life and for this podcast he was given a “Best of” tape that had one of the weirdest short films bookending the video. Needless to say Matt will not be joining the IWC anytime soon. But Matt was able to recognize that what he was watching was good it was just super weird. Jake & Zane try to explain whats going to Matt but he still has to look at Wikipedia during the podcast just to make sense of it all.

Episode 46 - NWC Total Chaos

On this episode of HDTGB comedian JD Colwell joins Zane & Jake to discuss a "Best of" commercial tape from the National Wrestling Conference which is, Total Chaos.  Boy are we so clever in this new year. Not only is this tape chaotic it is full of salacious allegations. Numerous BuzzFeed headlines could be pulled from this podcast such as, Where did Virgil get his Fuck Money, NWC: The Leading Promotion in Fights with Audience Members and Terry Funk, Huge Fan of Ass Play.  Also this podcast contains a ton of trampoline wrestling talk so buckle up for another episode of How Did This Get Booked.

Episode 45 - Santa With Muscles

To get into the holiday spirit Zane & Jake decide to watch the 1996 Christmas classic, Santa With Muscles… and it was a horrible mistake. This movie was only in theaters for two weeks but the scars from this movie will live forever. This movie does launch a few careers but it ends far more. Although, this movie is ahead of its time in a few areas like, a crazy jacked billionaire like Jeff Bezos, using Piezoelectricity as a renewable energy source and the militarization of the police. The guys try to muddle through the plot while saluting the true hero of this movie, Hulk Hogan's personal hair stylist.

Episode 44 - ACPW (11/12/05)

On this episode of HDTGB comedian Matt Barrentine returns to discuss a hidden gem in the Highspots.com video library, Atlantic Coast Pro Wrestling Super Show from November 2005.  This show maybe classified as a Legends Show but it is full of future stars. Including a very familiar voice on commentary who says a number of problematic lines throughout the show. And Matt Barrentine has all of them written down and is willing to read them aloud with full judgement. Jake & Zane have a ton of fun road & locker room stories about almost all the participates on the show. Making this entire podcast a lot of fun to listen to because you will hear stories that you won't hear anywhere else about Buff Bagwell, Scott Dawson, Midnight Express and many more.

Episode 43 - WWE Survivor Series 1990

On this episode of HDTGB, comedian & improviser Kevin Delgado returns to discuss the Thanksgiving Day Classic, WWE Survivor Series 1990.  If Zane, Jake & Kevin were lesser comedians they would make far more jokes about this PPV "laying an egg" but instead there is a lot to praise on this episode. Although Kevin still isn't moved to have more pro wrestling in life even after watching Mr. Perfect bump his ass off. To be fair Kevin is still pretty scared from his last episode were we made him watch WCW New Blood Rising.  Jake was super excited to watch Survivor Series 1990 because this is the PPV that he bugged his parents to buy and when they refused in rebellion he watch the PPV preview channel for 5 hours straight in the living room on Thanksgiving Day.

Episode 42 - ESPN 30 For 30: Nature Boy

On this very special episode of HDTGB Zane & Jake sit down to discuss the recent debut of the ESPN 30 for 30 entitled “Nature Boy”. Jake is very close to the subject material because of his time working with Ric Flair during his partnership with Highspots.com. Zane is also very close to the subject material because he too jerks off twice a day and has 10 beers a day for years at a time.

This documentary is very much a sanitized version of some of the dark aspects of Flair’s career and personal life. In this podcast Jake tries to go a bit deeper and dig into the psychology of the Nature Boy and why he chooses to do the things that he does. At  times during this podcast Jake's opinion doesn’t paint Ric in the best light but it is an honest and personally portrayal of man who really did sacrifice everything for professional wrestling. A man who lived life as if everyday was his last and searched for love and attention from the whole world.

Episode 41 - WCW Halloween Havoc 1991

On this episode of HDTGB comedian Nick Robinson joins Zane & Jake in the chair of torture for WCW’s Halloween Havoc 1991. The Chamber of Horrors match causes most wrestling fans to roll their eyes but for Nick Robinson it gave him massive amounts of anxiety. On top of that Nick was sick, high on cough medicine and drunk when he was trying to watch this PPV at 4am. So, watching the Chamber of Horrors match was the worst experience in Nick Robinson’s entire life. Top that IWC. Luckily, this PPV has some very memorable high points like Steve Austin vs. Dustin Rhodes, Brian Pillman vs. Ricky Morton and Bobby Eaton Carrying Around a Pumpkin.

Episode 40 - Tag Team

Hey do you remember the Lizard Bros?  On this episode of HDTGB your favorite podcast tag team talk about the 1991 TV Pilot Tag Team starring Jesse “The Body” Ventura & “Rowdy” Roddy Piper. This is the tv pilot that was briefly mentioned in the Jesse Ventura episode and the same tv pilot that lead to Jesse’s political career. A lot of questions need to be answered in this episode. Would it have been better to have Jesse Ventura’s political career OR 4 seasons of the 90’s cop show drama Tag Team available on Netflix? Is Roddy Piper a good actor? And can you use a irish whip & a double arm ringer in a real fight?

Episode 39 - TNA Victory Road 2011

On this episode of HDTGB comedian Crystalle Ramey joins Zane & Jake to discuss the long and the short of TNA’s Victory Road 2011 PPV.  Crystalle, who may or may not be a poet knows very little about pro wrestling. She claims to have over heard the name Junkyard Dog some where in a conversation somewhere. Luckily TNA does a great job with their recap intro videos and Crystalle knows right off the bat to hate Dixie Carter. This PPV is know for it’s main event that only lasts 88 seconds which after watch this almost 3 hour long PPV was much welcomed. Hopefully, HDTGB fan base can quote Sting in agreement by saying,” I Agree”. \

Episode 38 - WWE In Your House IV: Great White North

On this episode of HDTGB comedian/musician Normal Dennis returns to join Zane & Jake as they discuss WWE's 4th installment of the In Your House PPV series, The Great White North. Since the last time Dennis was on the podcast he has dipped his toe in the professional wrestling pool and has watched a little bit of it in his spare time. Although he hasn't seen much wrestling he still has seen enough to know that In Your House 4 is not good. In fact, some people who may or may not be Vince McMahon would call this PPV, "Horrible". Say what you will about the PPV it is a historic one. This PPV includes the debut of a future hall of famer in Goldust, the shortest IC Title reign ever and the most no sells of a DDT on a wrestling show ever. Please note that this episode of HDTGB may not be as awesome as Jerry Lawler's mullet was on this PPV but it's still pretty good.

Episode 37 - WWA: The Revolution

On this episode of HDTGBm, comedian Lauren Ansley joins Zane & Jake to discuss WWA’s 2nd PPV offering, The Revolution. This one is a rough one not because of the wrestling which is actually pretty good. And not because Tantric is the opening act for this PPV. True Story. But because Jake & Zane are extremely off their game. Which raises a couple of questions like,  Has the CTE monster finally gotten to Jake and has all the PBR finally rotted Zane’s brain? Luckily Lauren (Or Laurel as Jake called her in the show intro) is here to give her two cents on this PPV which reminds her of prom night. From Beginning to End.

Episode 36 - The Jesse Ventura Story

On this episode of HDTGB pro wrestler & former Minnesota resident, Sojo Bolt joins Zane & Jake to discuss a NBC TV movie of the week, The Jesse Ventura Story. This movie was made & aired less than 8 months after Ventura won the election to become the governor of Minnesota and it shows. Jake did more research for this podcast than the writers of this movie did for the script. But the most disturbing part of the whole film is they got an actor with the least amount of accent to play a guy with the most amount of accent.

After the discussion of the movie ends the trio tries to answer the real question,” Was Jesse Ventura a good Governor”? Sojo actually lived in Minnesota during Ventura’s tenure and even voted for him. But when she looks back she recalls a incident when Ventura’s government cuts affected her personally. Jake on the other hand comes to this podcast with a manifesto level of documents & print outs that would make Ventura blush.

Don’t buy it, then listen to this weeks episode of How Did This Get Booked ?!?

Episode 35 - WCW New Blood Rising

On this episode of HDTGB comedian & improvisor, Kevin Delgado sits down with Zane & Jake to discuss WCW’s replacement for Road Wild, New Blood Rising.  Kevin’s only prior knowledge of pro wrestling was the death of Eddie Guerrero & Chris Benoit. So, making him watch WCW’s New Blood Rising completes the pro wrestling tragedy hat trick. In typical WCW 2000 fashion the PPV is named after a faction that has already dissolved before the PPV. This PPV comes off the heels of the infamous and in Jake’s opinion very creative Bash at the Beach PPV shoot promo by Vince Russo. So, this is at the height of Russo’s hubris and it signals the upcoming fall of WCW. Kevin constantly questions the rules or lack there of in pro wrestling and Jake & Zane have no answers. Mostly because the Canadian Rule Book wasn’t handy.   Luckily though this show is book ended by some very solid matches because who doesn’t love Tank Abbott.

Episode 34 - GLOW on Netflix

Ever since it was released every one of Jake & Zane’s non wrestling friends have been asking, “What do you think about the new Netflix original series, GLOW”? Instead of answering everyone individually these two decided to use their moderately sized platform to answer that question all at once in detail. Put quite simply this is the best thing these two will ever talk about on this podcast. BUT instead of gushing over this fantastic program for over an hour, which they could have done very easily. Jake found one of the only negative reviews for Netflix series and picked it a part piece by piece. Some what out of spite because the review spoiled one of the major plot twist in the first episode WITHOUT GIVE A SPOILER ALERT.  Speaking of, SPOILER ALERT this episode contains SPOILERS so do not listen to this episode without watching GLOW on Netflix which we highly recommend that you do because it’s awesome.

Episode 33 - IWA Japan King of the Death Match 1995

Every country can only have 1 king but this podcast can have as many fools as it wants. On this episode of HDTGB comedian, Andy Vanderveer sits down with Zane & Jake to discuss the tournament that started it, King of the Death Match 1995. Andy grew up a non fan of pro wrestling in the Charlotte, NC area so his exposure to pro wrestling was limited to Lex Lugar showing up at his public pool one day. Needless to say King of the Death Match melted his mind. You know what they say, once you see Terry Funk get hit with a chainsaw you don’t go back. As a reminder no barbed wire crucifix were harmed in the filming of the tournament.

Episode 32 - PWS Legends Show (3/31/12)

On this episode of HDTGB comedian, Freddy G sits down with Zane & Jake to discuss a “legendary” Legends Show. You know it’s a bad sign when the “Man Scout” Jake Manning has one of the better matches on a show and has one of the better bodies on the card.  This show was a rushed job, throw away, giveaway, barely thought out, forgettable show. Unlike the other show that Vince Jr. was running across town that next day. In fact the hotel where this show took place was far more over than this show would ever be. This wrestling show is only notable because it is the first ever wrestling show that Freddy G has ever seen.

Episode 31 - WrestleManiac

Zane & Jake roll into this podcast much like Alfonse and his porn cast of characters did in that deserted Mexican town. There is no special guest comedian this week because like the stranger in the beginning of the movie says, “Too much pussy is bad for your heart”.  Hopefully some of the scares in this movie aren’t bad for your heart but rested assure that this podcast is good for your belly… laughs. Not only do we ask How Did This Get Booked but we also figure out How to Book the Remake.
